Yegane: Detective
Trench coat, yellow lenses, and concrete over water
02/04/2026
Concrete, rusted blue railings, turquoise water far below. Yegane in a belted trench coat switching between oversized black frames and yellow-tinted aviators. We found this waterfront structure — brutalist concrete, metal railings gone to rust, water stretching out behind everything. The kind of place that looks abandoned until someone stands in it right. She climbed up to the top platform and leaned over the railing, chin on hands, and I shot from below. Just her face and the sky. The yellow lenses changed everything. Every time she put them on the frames shifted — suddenly she was performing, daring the camera, adjusting them with one hand while holding the railing with the other. Without them she went quieter, more internal. The B&W frames caught that side: profile on the stairs, standing above on the platform, the coat catching hard sidelight. The best frame is color — her leaning against the pillar with one arm out on the blue railing, water behind her, coat open, completely in control. There's something about the beige coat against that saturated blue that makes the whole thing work. Eight frames between two registers: the noir thing with the glasses and the coat, and something softer underneath when she takes them off. Both versions are her.
